Cyclist killed in Kerry: A cyclist in his 30s has been killed while riding on the Gap of Dunloe.
A cyclist has become the latest person to lose their life on the roads over the Bank Holiday Weekend after a crash in Co Kerry on Sunday morning.
The man on the bike, who was in his 30s, was involved in
a crash with a motorist driving a car.
Gardai said the fatal collision occurred on the Gap of
Dunloe at about 8am. The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gardai had not named the deceased cyclist at the time of
writing. A Garda investigation is now underway.
“Gardaí in Killarney are appealing for witnesses following
a fatal collision in Co Kerry,” the Garda said in a statement.
“At approximately 8am a man in his 30s was fatally
injured when he was struck by a car while cycling on the Gap of Dunloe Road
near Beaufort.
“He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the
car was uninjured,” the statement added.
“Garda forensic collision investigators and scenes of
crime officers are currently examining the crash site.
“The road is closed and local diversions are in place.
The local Coroner will be notified.
“Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them at

The man killed today is the fifth cyclist to be killed on
the roads since the start of the year and the third person to lose their life
this weekend.
