
A cyclist has been killed in a road traffic crash in Co Cork which involved a driver in a car last evening.
The deceased cyclist, who was in his 60s, was pronounced
dead at the scene at 7pm.
Gardai have begun an investigation and are seeking any
information about the crash and any witnesses who seen the crash in Youghal.
“Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal
road traffic collision in Youghal, Co Cork,” a Garda statement on the crash
said.
“At approximately 7pm gardaí were alerted to a collision
involving a bicycle and a car on the Lower Corkhill Road, Youghal.
“The cyclist, a man in his 60s was pronounced dead at the
scene. He has since been removed to Cork University Hospital where a
post-mortem will take place.
“Garda Forensic Collision Investigations are currently at
scene and local diversions are in place.
“Gardaí are appealing for anyone with any information,
particularly any road users who may have camera footage - including dash-cam -
to contact Youghal Garda station.”
