Cyclist killed in Kerry fall: Gardai have launched an inquiry into the death of the man who was in his 70s.


A man has died from the injuries he sustained in what gardai described as a fall from his bike in Co Kerry this afternoon.

There was no driver, vehicle or any other third party
involved in the fatal incident in Co Kerry, a Garda statement said.

An investigation has begun and gardai are appealing for
witnesses to come forward.

“Gardaí in
Kenmare are investigating a fatal road collision which occurred at Lauragh, Co
Kerry, approximately 24kms from Kenmare,” the Garda said.

“A male in his
70s was fatally injured following a fall from his bicycle. The incident
occurred at 4.20pm today, Friday, July 5th.

“No other person
or vehicle involved. The body of the deceased has been removed to University
Hospital Kerry for a post mortem examination.

“Garda forensic
collision investigators are at the scene. The stretch of road is closed and
diversions are in place. The local Coroner has been notified.

“Investigating
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to contact them at

or any Garda station.”
