Gardai are investigating the death of cyclist hit by a truck in Dublin city centre this morning, Tuesday.
A cyclist has died after being in collision with a truck in Dublin’s north inner city this morning.
The deceased woman was hit by the truck on Sheriff St Upper close to the International Financial Services Centre.
The emergency services, including ambulances, fire tenders and gardai, rushed to the scene but the woman died from her injuries despite efforts to save her.
The collision occurred at the junction of Seville Place and Sheriff St Upper.
It is understood the cyclist was riding towards Guild St which leads to the North Wall Quay and the Samuel Beckett Bridge over the River Liffey.
The area was sealed off shortly after the collision at about 11am and major traffic diversions were in place as the emergency services responded and then Garda investigators examined the area.
Gardai are conducting an investigation into the case and are appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident to come forward and contact Store St station in the north inner city.
The woman’s death follows a number of fatalities on road for cyclists in recent weeks.
An 11-year-old boy killed in Co Offaly last week cycling to school last Thursday morning.
On August 21st a 13-year-old boy was hit by a car while cycling in Co Louth and died from his injuries in hospital in the following days.
And on the same day as the Louth crash a German woman lost her life while descending the Conor Pass in Co Kerry.
