
A cyclist has suffered serious injuries after a crash with a truck driver in morning rush hour traffic in Co Kildare. The crash is now under investigation by gardaí, who are urging witnesses to come forward.
"At approximately 8:00am gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a collision involving a (driver in a) truck and a cyclist on the Shackleton Road, Celbridge," Garda Headquarters, Phoenix Park, Dublin, said in a statement.
"The cyclist, a woman in her 40s was taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital to be treated for her injuries which are understood to be serious."
Gardaí added the scene of the crash was closed to to allow for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, with local diversions put in place.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and any road users with video footage - including dash cam - is asked to make this available to them.
