Gardai appeal over hit and run by driver on seriously injured cyclist

A cyclist was hit by a motorist and seriously injured before the driver of the vehicle then fled. Gardai are now trying to find out who the driver was

Gardai have appealed for information from the public after a hit and run by a driver on a cyclist has left the man cycling seriously injured.

The crime occurred last Thursday in
Dublin when the motorist hit the cyclist and fled the scene.

Only a partial description of the
vehicle is available and there is no description of the driver responsible.

However, the Garda has issued the appeal
in the hope that information from the public can held their investigation.

“Gardaí in Blanchardstown are appealing for
witnesses following a hit and run incident that occurred at approximately
9.50am on Thursday, 18th July, at the junction for Mulhuddart Village on
Blanchardstown Road South,” a Garda statement said.

“A 50
year old male on a pedal cycle was seriously injured when there was a collision
with a saloon vehicle described as being blue in colour.

“The
vehicle continued driving in the direction of Mulhuddart Village following the
collision.

“The
pedal cyclist was taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital with serious
injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

“A
number of vehicles stopped to assist the pedal cyclist and an ambulance
attended the scene. 

“Gardaí
are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward as well as
anyone who stopped to provide assistance.

“Gardaí
are also appealing to anyone who may have been in the area between 9.50am and
10.10am, particularly motorists with dash cam footage, to come forward.

“Anyone
