Gardai seek witnesses as cyclist in coma after collision with car

A crash in Dublin has left a cyclist in a coma in hospital and with life-threatening injuries. The cyclist was in collision with a woman driving a car in the west of the city.

 

A cyclist has been left in a coma after being in collision with a woman driving a car in Dublin.

The crash occurred on Friday afternoon in west Dublin. The cyclist, a 30-year-old from South America, is critically ill.

Gardai are looking to speak to anyone who may have seen the incident on Oak Road, Clondalkin.

Garda Headquarters issued a statement outlining some of the details of the incident, though the matter is still under investigation.

“Gardaí investigating a serious road traffic collision that occurred on Friday, June 1st, 2018, at approximately 3.30pm on Oak Road, Clondalkin, Dublin 22, are appealing for witnesses,” it said.

“The collision involved a car and pedal cyclist and the pedal cyclist was removed to Tallaght Hospital with serious injuries.

“The female pedal cyclist (30) remains in hospital in a critical condition and the female driver (31) was uninjured.

“Gardaí are appealing to any persons who may have witnesses the collision or who travelled on the Oak Road on Friday afternoon at approximately 3.30pm, and who may have dash cam equipment, to assist them in their investigation.”
