This video has emerged of fireworks being shot at a cyclist on a cycleway in Dublin, with youths further on the path also acting in a threatening manner.
Another striking thing about this clip is the way fire has damaged the banks on the side of the greenway, with a motorbike also taken onto it.
The incident occurred near the 11th lock on the Grand Canal Greenway in Clondalkin, Dublin.
The cyclist has said that after this experience he was opting away from the greenway and was now set to travel by road in future.
John
Curran TD, in whose constituency the incident occurred, said he had raised the
issue with South Dublin County Council.
He
added the anti social behaviour was a continuing problem on the Grand Canal
Greenway.
“I will continue to highlight this issue with them,”
he said of his contacts with the council about the anti social behaviour.
“As for the dangerous
use of scrambler bikes; that is an issue that I continue to raise in Dáil Eireann. New legislation is essential in order to allow Gardaí to
seize these bikes.”
