
A cyclist who was hospitalised after a crash with a van driver on Wednesday has died in hospital from his injuries. While the crash was already under investigation, gardaí have now stepped up their inquiries.
They are urging anyone who saw the crash - including drivers who may have dashcam footage - to come forward immediately and help the investigation team.
"At approximately 5:45pm gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a collision involving a van and bicycle on the N25 at, Holmestown, Co Wexford," the Garda said in a statement on Saturday morning.
"The cyclist, a man in his 50s was taken to Wexford General Hospital to be treated for his injuries which were serious. This man has since passed away. No other injuries were reported. The scene was preserved for a technical examination which has since concluded."
"Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward. They are appealing to road users who were travelling on the N25 in the Holmestown area between 5:30pm and 6:00pm with camera footage - including dash cam - to make it available to them."
