A cyclist has warned others training in the Sally Gap area of Co Wicklow to be vigilant after he was mugged for his bike earlier today.
The case comes to light two months after the Dublin Cycling Campaign warned it had received reports of similar attacks in which cyclists were targeted for their bikes.
In the latest incident, cyclist Ian Baldwin said he was attacked very close to the Sally Gap junction today.
"Two guys in a car drove me off the road into a ditch and nicked my bike," he said on Twitter, also highlighting the previous warning from the Dublin Cycling Campaign.
"Luckily my phone was in my back pocket not my stem bag. Reported to the Garda and getting a lift home."
He added he had suffered no serious injuries apart from road rash as a result of falling.
The stolen bike is a Trek 1.7; white and red in colour with white saddle and handlebars (see photo below).
