Gardai are investigating an attack in north Co Dublin during which a cyclist out training with a club mate was attacked by a man from a passing car.

Another man in the car, which close-passed the cyclists,
was recording the incident on his phone.

While the cyclist who was pushed off his bike was left with some injuries and a damaged bike as a result of the very dangerous assault, he was expected to make a full recovery.

A criminal investigation into the attack is underway and
gardai at Malahide station in Dublin are asking people to notify them if they
see the video emerging anywhere on social media.

The attack occurred last Wednesday evening in Kinsealy,
north Co Dublin, when two cyclists from Portmarnock Triathlon Club were out
training.

The club has issued a statement outlining the details of
the incident and appealing for people to help the Garda investigation if they
have any information.

“Between 7:10-7:15pm on Wednesday, July 22nd, a member of
our club was assaulted on Chapel Road in Kinsealy,” the club said.

“A small dark coloured car - a Peugeot 208 or similar -
drove by at extremely close proximity to a pair of club members out cycling.

“One of the occupants of the car pushed the lead cyclist
in the back while another filmed the incident. They were heading in the
direction of the Malahide Road.

Wood estate. Our member is OK but suffered bruising and grazing, and their bike
was damaged.

the time and would have witnessed the event. If you have the registration plate
