
Gardai in Dublin are appealing for witnesses to an assault during which a cyclist was beaten by a group of men.
The attackers,
who were armed with unknown weapons, got out of car and set up the victim.
A statement from
Garda Headquarters in Dublin said the incident occurred in Dublin 5, on the north
side of the city, on Saturday morning.
They are now appealing
to anyone in the area at the time, especially drivers and other cyclists
filming their journeys, to come forward.
The statement
added the criminal investigation now underway by gardai from Raheny station was
into a “serious assault”.
“At approximately
10.30am this morning, Saturday April 20th, a 39 year-old-male cyclist was
cycling on Swans Nest Road, Kilbarrack, Dublin 5 when a car, described as a
black saloon collided with him.
“A number of men
then got out of the car and assaulted the injured man with weapons - not known
what type.
“The men then
left the scene in this car. The injured man was taken to Beaumont Hospital with
injuries described as non-life threatening.
“Gardaí are
appealing for any person who witnessed the incident or with information to

“Gardaí are
further seeking any drivers of vehicles or cyclists with dash cam footage who
were in the Kilbarrack area at this time to check their dash cam footage and
contact Raheny Garda station.”
