A teenage cyclist has died in hospital 10 days after being injured in a crash in Dublin involving a driver in a car. The 19-year-old victim was being treated at Beaumont Hospital for injuries he sustained in the crash last week and has now died.
Gardaí have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses to come forward to aid the inquiry being conducted from Clondalkin Garda station.
The crash occurred last Sunday week, July 27th, shortly after 11:40pm, with Garda Headquarters saying members of the force "were alerted after a cyclist was struck by a car" at the R113, Fonthill Road South, Clondalkin, Dublin 22.
Though the victim survived in the immediate aftermath of the crash, he remained in critical condition in Beaumont Hospital, where he has now been pronounced dead.
"The 19-year-old male cyclist injured in the collision was pronounced deceased at Beaumont Hospital on the 4th of August 2025. The coroner has been notified and post-mortem examination will be carried out," the Garda said.
"Investigating gardaí continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward. Road users who may have relevant camera footage - including dash-cam - and were traveling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí."
