Cycling Weekly has £150,000 of review kit stolen

Having been entertaining the cycling community in Ireland for decades, Irish cycling fans may be able to give something back to Cycling Weekly.

The UK-based publication has just been the victim of theft costing up to £150,000. And in the haul were no fewer than 27 new road bikes.

When three vans containing the kit were cleaned out by thieves last week, the cost of the crime soon became clear.

All the kit stolen had been sent to the magazine for review. It was about to photographed for the annual editor’s choice awards.

We’ve listed below all the bikes and other kit stolen. It is almost certain some of the bikes and clothing will be offered for sale online so do please keep an eye out for it.

The robbery took place in Blyth new Worksop in Nottinghamshire late last week.

Vehicles the kit was in were broken into and cleared of their contents.

The crime took place been the evening of last Thursday and first thing the following morning.

It was at 7.30am on Friday that it was discovered the vans had been broken into overnight outside the Cherry Park Hall Hotel.

As well as the 27 bikes , also stolen were wheels, groupsets, clothing, tyres, helmets, shoes and tools.

The door on one of the vans was bent open and two of the three vehicles had their locates broken open.

While some of the bikes were locked together in the vehicles they were still taken, suggesting a degree of organisation and experience on those responsible.

Please do keep your eyes open for the stolen kit on international and Irish-based sites.

It’s very possible those who stole the kit may seek to off-load it outside the UK. And Ireland would be a likely marketplace.
