Cycling Leinster has entered teams in races at home and abroad in recent years, providing excellent opportunities for young riders, and now the provincial body is looking for the next generation to step up - at least put their hands up.

An event being held by Cycling Leinster later this month is a must for any U16 or junior riders eligible to ride for Leinster next season, especially given some of the opportunities that have been on offer in recent seasons.

The first squad training day towards the 2025 campaign takes place in Navan, Co Meath, on Saturday, October 19th, with a 10am start.

"The training day will consist of an endurance road spin, lead by Cycling Leinster mentors," Cycling Leinster said. "This is not a learn-to-ride session, nor is it a selection day.

"It is an opportunity to ride with your piers in a safe & enjoyable environment, ask questions and learn more about racing plans for the 2025 season. Riders should be at a suitable standard to ride in a group setting, continuously for 2+ hours at a moderate training pace.

Riders may be split into separate groups for some or all of the session depending on the numbers and abilities of riders in attendance. A 60km and 80km route option is prepared for such circumstances. This will be confirmed on the day."

Cycling Ireland high performance coaches will be in attendance to assist and meet the riders and their knowledge and advice will be very helpful to those looking to develop further in the HP pathway.

Any riders under the age of 18 at the time of this event must complete a consent form, and return in advance, to the email address [email protected] and you can also send any questions about the event to that address.
