Harvey Barnes is one of 12 riders named by Cycling Ireland in the Talent Team 2020 squad for next year.
The identities of the riders who will comprise the Talent Team 2020 national youth squad was announced today with eight boys and four girls making up the 12-rider roster.
Under the tutelage of coaches Nicola McKiverigan and Martin O' Loughlin, the team will race a packed programme of events at home and abroad.
The long-term goal is to have a strong squad competing at the Olympic Games in 2020.
The shorter term objective of the programme is to assist riders with the transition into the junior ranks from youth cycling.

Tom Knight is yet another young rider from the O'Leary's Stone Kanturk CC stable to make his mark on youth racing.
All of the riders selected were born in the years 1999 and 2000 so the eldest riders will only be turning 16 years of age in the coming season.
Corkman Ronan Tuomey (Cork Giant) has been named as captain.
Tuomey will race his final year U16 next year and much will be expected of him, having blitzed the time-trial, crit and road race at the U14 National Championships two years ago and also taken a string of fine wins this year.
But there are plenty others in the squad who can do damage.
Tom Knight (O' Leary Stone Kanturk CC), Harvey Barnes (East Tyrone) and Conor Gallagher (Castlebar CC) are all riders of promise.
Knight was in the team last year, as was Gallagher so the setup will be nothing new to them. But Barnes is a great addition.

Amanda Gallagher is among four strong girls to make it onto what is now an amalgamated Talent Team for boys and girls.
They will be joined by five other very strong riders in the shape of Aaron Doherty (Covey Wheelers), PJ Doogan (Errigal CC), Conor Halvey (Errigal CC), Tom Knight (O' Leary Stone Kanturk CC) and Luke Smith (Moynalty Skyway).
The girl’s squad was separate last year but now the Neenan Travel Talent Team 2020 has been merged with the boys and four strong girls have made the cut
They are Orla Desmond (Galtee Wheelers), Amanda Gallagher (Errigal CC), Shauna McFadden (Errigal CC) and Molly McLarnon (North Down CC).
The squad will be formally launched in Dunboyne Castle on Sunday, December 14th.
