Big guns set for battle as Ballymena hosts National Road Series

The third round of the National Road Series unfolds tomorrow, hosted by Ballymena Road Club, with many of the strongest riders lining out.

Already two rounds are complete; the Des Hanlon Memorial
in Co Carlow and the Donal Crowley Memorial in Co Cork.

Sean Hahessy claimed victory in the men’s round one and two respectively.

And because Hennebry won in Carlow and claimed 2nd behind fellow international Hahessy in Cork, he leads the series.

In the women’s events, Grace Young (Strata 3-VeloRevolution) and Mia Griffin (TC Racing) took the opening two rounds.

Young leads the women’s series and with multiple victor
in the series in recent years, Eve McCrystal, on the same team as her this year
they will make a formidable pairing.

However, the Ballymena women are similarly strong; Eileen
Burns and Katharine Smyth capable of winning any round.

This third round of the 2019 series, the Blair
International Red Hand Trophy, on Saturday starts in Ballymena .

It loops 103km up to Ballycastle, following the coast to
Carnlough, before returning to finish in Ballymena.
