Numbers then dipped back down to around the 2,000 mark until the first years of the last decade, when they began to creep up again. That inching forward has now turned into an explosion, with the 2,000+ gain in members in the past 12 months alone, bigger than the entire annual membership for much of the three decades from 1980.

In 2009 membership was already powering ahead and had jumped over 6,000 for the first time ever. But it has continued to rocket further since then, with just under 12,000 members in 2011 and now just under 14,000.
