Cycling Ireland has named no fewer than 24 riders for the European Road Championships in Holland next month.
The road races and TT titles will be fought out in the
junior, U23 and elite category in Alkmaar from August 7th to 11th.
There’s a two-rider Irish team in the women’s junior road
race and six riders in the junior men’s road race, with two of those to also
ride the TT.
In the U23 category, six riders are named for the road race and two of them will also compete in the TT.
Three women are named at elite level and in the male
elite team seven riders are named; six for the road race and two for the TT.
Ryan Mullen (Trek-Segafredo) will be one of Ireland’s
best chances of a medal and he is named for the TT only; an event he could win
with full focus.

In the road race, Ireland has Sam Bennett (Bora-hansgrohe)
and Eddie Dunbar (Team Ineos). The race is one that Bennett could win as the
course is suited to him.
