Cycling Ireland has clarified the position around the running of the Masters National Time Trial (TT) Championships after the races were included in the schedule for the National Road Championships weekend in two weeks.
Contrary to the schedule for the championship weekend released earlier today, the Masters 40, Masters 50 and Masters 60 TT title races will not take place with the elite and U23 TT events on Thursday, June 23rd.
They were included in the schedule in error. The three Masters TT titles will be decided on Saturday, August 13th.
The title races are being promoted by Cunga CC in Cong, Co Mayo, with the Masters and Junior categories fighting it out for the national TT titles in their respective races on Saturday, August 13th.
And the junior and A3 road race championships are being held the following day, Sunday, August 14th, by Cunga CC in Cong.
The Masters 40, Masters 50 and Masters 60 national road race championships will indeed be held in Kilcullen on Saturday, June 25th, as per the schedule published earlier today.
It appears because the three Masters road races are being run that weekend – along with the elite and U23 men’s and women’s TT and road race title events – the Masters TT races were included in the scheduled in error.
But, as Cycling Ireland has now clearly clarified, the Masters TT championships are not being run in two weeks but are going ahead as had always been planned in August in Mayo.
We hope that clears up any confusion.
Just to be sure to be sure...
- Saturday, June 25th: Masters 40, Masters 50 and Masters 60 road race national championships are being held in Kilcullen, Co Kildare.
- Saturday, August 13th: Masters 40, Masters 50 and Masters 60 TT national championships are being held in Cong, Co Mayo.
