Cycling Ireland is inviting expressions of interest in its 'athlete development programme' for 2023. The programme is open to those who will be second-year U16 riders next season as well as those who will be in the junior ranks.
Successful candidates accepted onto the programme will receive a range of supports from the national governing body with a view to developing their abilities as they progress through the sport.
The programme is now in its fourth year and is open to riders across all disciplines of cycling. It is a separate process to Irish team selection and whether riders are in the programme or not will have no bearing on their eligibility for selection to represent Ireland.
Cycling Ireland described the programme was an "evidence-based framework" delivered by the federation's high performance coaches and performance experts from multiple disciplines.
"The benefits from the programme include individual feedback and input on training programmes, physiological testing, educational workshops, consultations with experts in life skills, sports nutrition and sports psychology, in addition to training camps," it said.
"Applications are welcome from male and female cyclists across disciplines. While considerable resources of the programme will consist of concentrated work with a small core group of athletes, other educational inputs will be available to all applicants. Meaning there is something in this for everyone."
An information Zoom meeting will be held on Monday, September 19th at 8pm. The meeting will include inputs from 2022 programme members and elite Irish riders, Matthew Teggart, Thomas Fallon, Neill Delahaye and Martin O’Loughlin from Cycling Ireland. The meeting will conclude with a question and answer session.
