He collected 285 points during the year, with Mark Dowling (Unattached) on 204 points.

And in 3rd place is hurler turned cyclist Paul Kennedy. The Newcastle West CC man was just behind Dowling on 200 points.

Cigala took the Brian McNamara Memorial and followed up immediately with victory at the Mondello Series in Co Kildare.

Victory in the Ballivor GP would follow before another two Mondello wins. And they were followed by 3rd overall in the Suir Valley Three Day.

In total, Cigala was on the podium 21 times during the road season; including seven wins and placing runner-up eight times.

Dowling would start the year with three podiums; winning the Annaclone, placing 3rd in the Cycleways Cup and 2nd in the Newbridge GP.

He would then win the Visit Nenagh Classic, place 3rd on stage 2 of the Tour of Ulster and win a round in Mondello.

The next podium came at the Shay Elliott where he was 3rd, followed by four 2nd places.

And in the latter part of the season he’d win three times in quick succession; a stage and the overall at the Suir Valley and Ras Cill Mocheallog.

Rounding out the podium in the rankings this year, Paul Kennedy got off to a great start with victory at the Mick Lally Memorial at the start of the year.

He’d go on to win stage 2 of Rás Mumhan and then a round at the Greenmount Criteriums. He would make the podium a total of 10 times this year.
