Crazy scenes at Tour Luxembourg, crash after truck enters course | Video

These two clips (above and below) from the Tour de Luxembourg show the crash that happened today with a truck being driven onto the course. The crash occurred after a series of incidents and a rider protest over vehicles on the course during earlier stages

Riders have crashed at the Tour de Luxembourg after coming up against a truck on the course of today's final stage. The incident occurred after a rider protest on the race in recent days over vehicles on the course.

The UCI had issued a statement on Thursday about those earlier incidents, saying it had been in touch with the race organisers, police, teams and riders and that "many actions" had been taken to improve the situation on the race.

Those issues began on Tuesday's stage 1, with cars on the course and a bus parked inside the last 5km of the stage. The following day the riders stopped to protest and it was agreed the stage would be neutralised until the finishing circuits.

However, the issues persisted and resulted in riders bunching up to avoid a truck stopped on the roadside approaching a climb on today's final stage, with about 10 riders falling and at least one being forced out of the race due to his injuries.

The UCI issued another statement today after that crash, saying all of the incidents on the race would be reviewed.

"The multiple incidents reported throughout the event related to the shortcomings of the race organisation are not acceptable," it said, adding its management committed would review them next week.

"The appropriate measures will he taken to ensure rider safety at events."

Today's fifth and final stage was won by Andreas Kron (Riwal Securitas) from overall winner Diego Ulissi (UAE-Team Emirates), who also won stages 1 and 4.
