Crash video casts doubt on theory Kittel disc brake cut Doull

This video appears to show Marcel Kittel fall away from Owain Doull. Did the crash barrier split Doull's shoe and cut his foot rather than Kittel's disc brake?

Team Sky's Owain Doull showed his split shoe and the slice into his sock and foot at the end of the opening stage in Abu Dhabi, insisting that only a disc brake could have caused the damage.

And because Marcel Kittel (QuickStep) was one of the other fallers and was the only ride in the bunch using disc brakes, Doull said it must have been the German's bike that did the damage.

He concluded disc brakes were "lethal" and suggested had the whole peloton been using them things would have been a lot more dangerous.

However, the footage below - while far from crystal clear - appears to show Doull and Kittel fall away from each other, and casts doubt on whether the German's bike was near enough to Doull to have been the cause of the problem.

It's not definitive, but have a look and see what you think. Could the crowd control barriers have been to blame instead?
