A couple of days ago we brought you news a 19 year-old Irish rider who had been placed in an induced coma following a training ride crash last weekend.
But thankfully there has now been some improvement in his condition.
Nathan McGreehan has been taken out of an induced coma by his medical team at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda and is showing signs of recovery, albeit slow.
His team, iTap, posted a message on their Facebook page saying the Dundalk man had improved but it will be a number of weeks before the full extent of his injuries can be fully understood.
The statement in full read: “Yesterday Nathan's medical team woke him from the induced coma and removed all his tubes.
“He is out of critical danger and starting to respond to people around him. Nathan still remains confused and disorientated with his medical team continuing to assess him.
“It will be a number of weeks before the full extent of the accident and Nathan's injuries can be fully understood.
“Nathan, the McGreehan Family and Team iTap would like to thank everyone for their kind words, prayers and support during this difficult time.”
Hopefully this is the start on the road to recovery for Nathan and again everyone at stickybottle is rooting for him and wishes him all the best, with good wishes to his family, his colleagues in iTap and cycling buddies.
