Costing up to €63,000; is this Irish cycling's poshest ever lead car?

This luxury motor has appeared at the front of the Irish peloton and by our reckoning it's the poshest lead car ever on the domestic scene. Above, commissaire Gary McIlroy about to test her out at the recent Junior Tour of Ireland.

 

The bikes Irish riders are racing on are getting more expensive every season it seems, with the preparations for competition always nudging further into the professional sphere.

But at the recent Junior Tour of Ireland the lead was attracting as much attention as some of the fantastic performances by the Irish and visiting riders.

The Jaguar XF 2.2 Diesel was supplied by Bradley Jaguar from Galway rivalled anything that Jaguar-backed Team Sky has been driving this season.

This 2.2-litre 4-cylinder diesel version of the XF diesel was driven by Brendan Quigley during the Junior Tour.

It starts at €49,995 and come with ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, making it the poshest car we've seen at the front of an Irish bunch.

The Luxury model costs €49,295, the Premium Luxury weighs in at €54,995 and the top spec Portfolio model will set you back €62,800.

It’s a long, long way from 10 lads with bikes cramming into the back of a Hi-Ace bound for the local race hoping against hope the jalopy will make it all the way.
