One of Ireland’s leading XC MTB riders, Richie Felle has big plans for the next couple of years that include moving to Chile for a period before an all-out assault on the European scene, hopefully with a trade team.
The Dubliner began racing MTB seriously in 2007 and having competed at home and abroad in recent years, he is just about to finish his college studies and plans a full-time tilt at his racing in the next couple of years.
“I’ve pretty much consistently developed through the ranks since I started,” he told Stickybottle.

“I’ve been getting away to plenty of international events over the last four years; high level European MTB races in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, the UK and France; but basically only when I’ve had the funds.”
”So, a lot of this might be under the radar for the Irish road biking community but it’s certainly true that the Irish MTB community know me well at this stage!”
While still studying for his advertising degree last year, he managed to finish consistently on the podium in many of the races he rode in Ireland.
“Last season I was more focused on my studies, so I didn’t get to do any international events. This season I will be race abroad again as well as doing the national series races.”

“I’ll also be finished my advertising degree in May. So I plan on taking at least a year out to focus on cycling fully. The plan is to move to Chile in the winter with some friends where I’ll be living high in the mountains around Santiago. Ill be doing some of their UCI races there for training, and then hitting the European mountain bike races hard for 2013 in search of a good team abroad.”
He said he and Brian Fortune had put together the video above in a bid to try and attract sponsors and to enhance Fortune’s portfolio as he makes his way into the completely different world of film making.
