Alberto Contador has stayed in great shape since he hung up his racing wheels - even breaking the Everesting world record. However, the former Spanish pro cyclist has said he won't be doing any cycling for a while as he is covered in bandages.
Contador - who won seven Grand Tours and was stripped of two other Grand Tour victories due to doping - underwent surgery to have benign tumours removed from all over his body. They were mainly on his legs and upper body - over 100 in total - but he also had some on his arms.
The lipoma tumours he had removed are effectively small fatty lumps that grow in the soft tissue just under the skin. They are not cancerous but they can be very painful, especially if they press against the nerves.
"Yesterday it was time to go to the repair shop. I needed to get some lipomas removed and it turned out I had over 100," he said on social media. "I won’t be riding for a while."
