Conor McGregor has claimed he was lucky to survive without suffering serious injury, or worse, after being hit by a driver while he was out cycling in Ireland. The MMA fighter recorded the aftermath of the crash, sounding like he was in shock, saying the motorist hit him from behind at speed and drove through him.
McGregor told the driver "mate, that's nasty" and "I could have been dead there". However, he also took a conciliatory approach, assuring the driver, who stopped and walked back to check on him: "All good mate, all good, don't worry about it".
The driver is very apologetic and offers to help McGregor and bring him and his bike home, an offer than the MMA fighter accepted, thanking him. He then shared a second video, with the driver in the car, and was clearly very thankful he was not injured, saying "it wasn't our time, God bless".
"Got a bang of a car just now from behind," McGregor said when sharing the video and photos from the scene on his Instagram account this afternoon. "A sun trap, the driver couldn’t see me. Full speed straight through me.
"Thank you God, it wasn’t my time. Thank you wrestling and judo also. Having an awareness on the landing saved my life."
