Biniam Girmay (Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux) is out of the Giro d'Italia due to the eye injury he sustained on the podium after the end of stage 10 yesterday.

The Eritrean rider said while he believed he was OK, and that no lasting or serious damage had been done, he and his team had decided he would not continue in the race.

In a video message publish by the team this morning - below - he confirmed he was out of the race. However, he was no longer wearing the eye patch that medics had fixed over his eye during his hospital visit after the stage.
