Club cyclists map 200km+ Dublin border ride on Strava

Dublin is, as well all know, the best county in Ireland. And now some club cyclists based in the Fair City have mapped it out with this border ride on Strava

With Covid19 lock-down restrictions now lifted enough for cyclists to ride anywhere within a 20km radius of home or anywhere in their home county, three Dublin-based cyclists have busied themselves with a county boundary spin.

Sean Landers, Simon Jones and Gabriele Glodenyte (AKA Gabby Glo) took the county boundary
restriction literally when they set out to ride around the edge of Dublin as
close as they could to the border but without crossing over into neighbouring
counties.

The UCD Cycling Club riders hugged the county boundary very closely and with some solid route planning they went around Dublin in just over 200km, mapping their ride on Strava as they went.

It was an especially good effort for Gabby Glo as she is new to cycling and was thrown in at the deep end with two experienced racing cyclists.

She also led the
way up Feather Beds, putting the two lads under pressure in the process.

The trio’s route
started in the city and went north along the coast, including a loop of Howth
Head, before going across the north of the county then back down the west and
finishing in the Dublin Mountains.

No county borders
were crossed in the process and all social distancing restrictions were complied
with during a good day’s work.

Jones is no stranger to Strava art as 4½ years ago the UCD Cycling Club rider took a break from the books and mapped a giant snowman over Dublin with fellow engineering student Adam O’Reilly.
