Chris Froome has surgery after slicing tendon in kitchen accident

Chris Froome's disastrous year has gotten a little but worse with news that he sliced a tendon in his hand and had to undergo surgery.

The four-time Tour de France winner said he cut his hand with a knife at home and had to have surgery last night to put the tendon back together.

He released the photo of himself below, with a bandaged up hand he said was stuck in a 'thumbs up' for the next few weeks.

Froome suffered the injury during a period away from racing after his crash earlier in the season.

He hit a wall at high speed on a recon ride for the Criterium du Dauphine and will not race again until next year.
