Team Sky leader at the Giro d'Italia, Chris Froome has crashed during his recon ride of the TT course in Jerusalem.

The Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana champion was out riding around the course that he will race within a matter of hours.

But during that ride he came off his bike, though it is not exactly clear yet what caused the crash.

He suffered cuts and other abrasions to his back, leg and arm - as this photo clearly shows.

It's nothing that will keep him out of the race, but it's a really bad start for a man who is looking to win this race.

If Froome were to win the race he would hold all three Grand Tour titles at one.

However, he return an adverse dope test result for salbutamol towards the end of the Vuelta.

He is still in the process of trying to explain how the asthma drug was in his system at double the permitted limit.

And if he cannot do so he faces a range of possible sanctions, including losing his Vuelta title.

He could also be stripped of race results he achieved since his adverse test; which would include the Giro.
