The cycling event was designed to raise funds for Console and awareness around the organisation’s services.

The cycle took place in June, with the cyclists riding from Celbridge in Co Kildare, where much of Console’s activities were based, to Galway across the country.

However, less than two weeks after the event Console’s chief executive Paul Kelly resigned amid allegations of extravagant spending of the charity’s money.

There are now a number of investigations ongoing into the organisation’s spending and governance and it is unclear whether the Clayton in Galway would be paid the money it is owed.
