This guy was caught in the woods deliberately wrecking trails. Riders hid cameras, bought after crowd funding, to catch him on this video. And now the cops have caught up with him too.
Cavehill MTB trail sabotage caught on video
A video has emerged of trails in Northern Ireland being sabotaged by a man who did not realise he was being secretly recorded.
The PSNI has said one man has already been issued with a formal caution in relation to the deliberate wrecking of the trail.
And while a criminal file about another person’s alleged involvement was sent to the Crown Prosecution Service it was decided no legal action would be taken.
The clip below shows the saboteur at work during the summer at the Cavehill trails just outside Belfast.
It was decided to erect the camera after several incidents in the area in which fishing line and wire had been stretched across the trails head height.
Large rocks and heavy large branches from trees were also dragged into the trails in an apparent effort to cause riders to crash.
Some of the riders who used the trails, which are unofficial but tolerated, crowd funded for the purchase of wildlife cameras.
These were hidden at various spots on the trails and quickly began capturing early morning sabotaging of the Cavehill trails.
Trees were being pulled into the Cavehill trails and in some cases shovels were being used to dig holes and move rocks at jumps.
Some of the foot has emerged now as the Police Service of Northern Ireland has confirmed the case is concluded.

These are just a couple of very many photos relating to the sabotage at Cavehill in recent years. These photos were taken last year when fishing wire in large volumes was stretched across the trails and logs dragged into the trails.
The PSNI said a formal complaint had been made to it back in June. Since the 67-year-old man has been cautioned and the 57-year-old suspect investigated.
This latest episode comes after regular sabotaging of the trails over a 10-year period.
In July, 2016, plastic fishing line wire has been found stretched across trails at the Cavehill Country Park in north Belfast.
Bernard McClure of Cavehill Mountain bikers said at the time the wire, and other traps such as logs, placed on the trails were discovered.
“The fishing line wire was found by a mountain biker walking his dog who was checking for items,” McClure said.
“We have found branches and logs in the past, but you are not expecting a fishing line. With fishing line wire, you wouldn’t even see it.
“It could slice into someone’s throat or, if it caught you on the arm or chest, it could knock you off the bike and cause you a serious injury.
“We want action with covert surveillance or the monitoring of the mountain bike trails more closely.
“I have used these tracks for 10-15 years and I know you have to be careful, but if you were a 17-year-old starting out you might not be expecting it.”
