One of the country’s most successful clubs has announced exciting details of big three-year sponsorship which will enable them to develop young riders at both a recreational and competitive level.

Carrick Wheelers have secured financial backing from IT company ‘Panduit’ and by coming on board, club chairman John Dempsey believes it will allow more and more club riders realise their potential.

He pointed to the commitment of previous sponsors and said that Panduit can have a major impact in producing the next Sam Bennett or Michael O’Loughlin, just two riders who have turned pro in recent years.

“Our focus for the years ahead is on our junior and under 25 riders, starting with a team in this year’s Junior Tour of Ireland and developing these riders into a team in the An Post Rás in 2017 and 2018,” said Dempsey.

“With Panduit’s generous support it is our intention to provide more riders with the opportunity to follow the likes of club members Sam Bennett and Michael O’Loughlin into the professional ranks”.

For his part, Bennett still plays an active role in the club that harnessed his talent and he’s well positioned to comment on what such backing can do for upcoming riders.
