Having visited the podium several times already this season and taken the fight to some of the best junior and U23 riders in the country, not to mention some very strong A3 men, Martin O'Loughlin tops the first Cycling Ireland A3 rankings of the year.
The Iverk Produce-Carrick Wheelers man was unlucky to be sent the wrong way when in a strong escape in the Cycleways Cup a few weeks ago.
However, since then he has looked in great shape and took 3rd place to team mate Sean Hahessy and his own son Michael O'Loughlin (NRPT) at the Newbridge GP two weeks ago.
He was 2nd last Sunday at the Blarney & District Traders Cup; this time being bested by his teenage son in the A1-A2-A3 race after a breakaway of A2 and A3 men held off the A1 scratch group.
And the following day, Monday, he celebrated St Patrick's Day in style by winning the Tommy Sheehan Memorial in Carrick, the A3 undercard race to the A1-A2 Bobby Power Memorial main event.
A former elite international and former national vets' champion, at 47 years he leads the A3 rankings from Omagh's Angus Fyffe and Ronan Killeen, the Lucan CRC man who won Rás Mhaigh Eo overall last weekend.
