Helen and Michael Bennett watch their son's historic win from home in Carrick-on-Suir

Sam Bennett's family's nerves were clearly shredded as they looked on at home as the 29-year-old Carrick-on-Suir man wrapped up the green jersey on the Tour de France by winning the final stage in Paris yesterday.

Helen and Michael Bennett - the proud parents of the Irish cycling star - jumped around the living room at home in Carrick-on-Suir with other family members as the Irish pro rider really got the job done on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées.

Sports radio show host Nigel Kelly is the man with the scoop as he was with the Bennett's at their home as part of his work for WLR FM, for whom he presents a sports show twice a week.
