British Zwift Champ disqualified, banned: He explains what happened

Cameron Jeffers being crowned Britain's first eRacing champion earlier this year but now he has lost the title after using a bot on Zwift to gain a faster bike

Cameron Jeffers, Britain's first eRacing champion, has been stripped of his title and banned from all racing for six months.

James Phillips, who was 2nd to Jeffers in the inaugural championship back in March, has now been awarded the title.

Jeffers was judged, long before the championships, to have used a bot to bypass challenges he should have undergone to unlock a fast bike on Zwift.

He effectively accessed use of the 'tron bike' on Zwift without having passed a climbing challenge.

He should have climbed 50,000 metres before gaining access to the fast tron bike.

But he accepts that late last year someone he knew effectively went into his Zwift account for him and bypassed the challenge, immediately securing the use of the tron bike for him.

He then went on to use the bike at the nationals back in April and won the title.

However, British Cycling has now said it investigated him after receiving an anonymous email indicating he had effectively taken a shortcut to the tron bike.

As a result of the inquiry, it has disqualified him from the championship, stripped him of his title and banned him from racing for six months.

Jeffers is a very strong road rider with the St Piran team in the UK, which has ridden Rás Tailteann.

He said he accessed the bike before the rules for the eRacing championship were even drawn up. And he has also insisted that his power was the best in the final.

"I accept that this practice was unethical and unsporting and I have cooperated fully with BC on their investigation," he said.

"I will continue to support it and use what I have learnt from my mistakes to help shape it as it grows."

ERacing is new and sees riders compete against each other on Zwift. The UCI is creating an eRacing world championships from next year.
