Irish international Aaron Buggle has today, Thursday, signed a one-year contract with UK-based professional cycling team Rapha Condor.

The 22-year-old Meath native penned the deal this afternoon in the presence of team principal John Herety and said he was "absolutely chuffed" at the move which will see him link up alongside fellow Irishman Felix English.

Buggle has had a difficult career in the sport to date having been injured for long periods but he said all that is now in the past as he looks forward to life in his new surroundings.

"I'm just absolutely chuffed now to be honest," said Buggle.

"I was facing the prospect of going back out to France again for another season and I would've found that very tough."

But his career is now on an altogether different path and he said he can't wait to get going.

"I first heard about it a few weeks back but I didn't want to say anything for fear it didn't actually come true but I have now signed a contract and I'm over the moon."

It is not yet confirmed what races Buggle will do but he did state there would be an emphasis on developing riders, something they are keen to have the Irishman a part of.
