
Gardai are investigating the death of a 13-year-old boy who had died after being hit by a car while cycling.
A 13-year-old boy has lost his fight for life having sustained serious injuries in a crash at the weekend. The deceased was hit by a car while cycling.
The collision occurred in Co Louth on Saturday and while the victim had been in hospital undergoing medical treatment since then, he has been pronounced dead.
Garda Headquarters in Dublin confirmed his death in a statement released earlier today, Wednesday.
The boy was pronounced dead last night at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
Gardai said the fatal collision occurred last Saturday, August 21st, at about 8.30pm on the N51, Slane Road, Drogheda, Co Louth.
The emergency services were called and the boy was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital having suffered serious injuries.
The driver of the car was uninjured.
The scene of the collision was sealed off and examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
The investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing.
Gardai have appealed for anyone travelling on the road between 7.30pm and 8.30pm where the collision took place or who may have witnessed it to come forward.
