Blizzard-like conditions force cancelation of main Leinster St Patrick’s Day race

 

Usher Irish Road Club has this morning taken the decision to cancel its St Patrick’s Day race in Dunboyne, Co Meath.

The cancellation is a blow to cyclists in Leinster, who had no race yesterday meaning for most it was a weekend without competition.

However, the organisers felt they had no option and with blizzard like conditions in the area in the hour leading up to the event, the decision was made to call off the race for safety reasons.

There was to be three races this morning starting at 11am on the Dorey’s Forge circuit – with an event for A1/A2 riders and the separate races for A3s and A4s all scheduled to take place.
