A bike shop in Northern Ireland has been broken into and had bikes and frames valued at £115,000, or €140,000, stolen. The incident occurred at Cicli Sport on Market St, Moneymore, Co Derry.
The PSNI has now launched an investigation and issued a public appeal for information in a bid to track down the thieves and recover the stolen property, which includes a fleet of Pinarello Dogma F12 bikes along with Specialized and Giant Liv bikes.
The PSNI statement said the burglary took place between
2am and 3.30am this morning, Monday, March 7th. Its statement put
the value of the stolen items – 13 bikes and five frames – at “over £115,000”.
“The stolen bikes and frames are of high value and were a
variety of different models,” said Sgt Nevin on behalf of the PSNI. “They also
have serial numbers attached and so can be easily tracked. We would therefore
appeal to members of the public to remain vigilant and report anything
suspicious.

“Our enquiries are continuing and it was reported two
males entered the property shortly after 2am. One is described as wearing black
tracksuit bottoms, a black hoodie, mask and hood. The other male is believed to
be wearing grey trousers, a dark hoodie, orange mask and hood.
“Both of the men appear to be wearing gloves. They are
observed carrying the stolen bikes across the front of the shop towards the
Circular Road on foot and were last spotted just before 3.30am.”
Anyone with information, or who saw anything suspicious
in the area or was recording dashcam footage nearby, is asked to contact the
PSNI on 101 and quote the reference number 348 of 07/03/2022.
While the PSNI appeal does not name Cicli Sport as the business that was targeted, the shop has identified itself as the victims. It has published a full list of the bikes stolen, which stickybottle sets out below.
