Bikes among €150,000 haul seized from burglary gang in Garda raids

Gardai have moved on burglars and seized stolen property worth €150,000, including bikes.

 

A number of bikes were among a wide range of stolen items seized by the Garda yesterday, with the items all believed to have been taken during recent burglaries.

No photographs of the property seized have yet been made available but a statement from the Garda confirmed bikes were among the haul.

Also seized by the Garda teams involved in the searching yesterday were power tools, machinery, trailers, ornaments, antiques.

“As part of Operation Thor, Gardaí from the Kilkenny-Carlow Division commenced a day of searches,” the statement from the Garda said of the searches yesterday and on Thursday.

“Searches were conducted by members from Kilkenny and Thurles Detective Units and were carried out in Carlow Town, Urlingford, Freshford, Castlecomer, Cuffs Grange in Co Kilkenny and Moyne in Co Tipperary.

“A large volume of suspected stolen property has been recovered as part of this operation -early estimates put a value in excess of €150,000. The property recovered includes power tools, machinery, trailers, ornaments, antiques and pedal cycles.”

The gardai added nobody had been arrested but “the searches and investigations are ongoing”.
