Cargo bikes will soon be available for rent off the street, with bike rental company Bleeper set to add them to their fleet. However, precisely when the cargo bikes will become available is not yet confirmed.
The addition of cargo bikes to Bleeper's fleet is a big step forward towards Dublin becoming a more cycling friendly city. Even the most dedicated of cyclists - especially those without access to a vehicle - can be caught out when they have large items to carry.
However, with cargo bikes soon to become available from the Bleeper fleet, that issue will be resolved. Many people who want to live car free and those who want to make the maximum number of their journeys by bike will have a solution at hand every time they need a cargo bike.
Cargo bikes can be expensive to buy and because most people would only need a cargo bike infrequently, purchasing such a bike does not make sense for most people.
Bike share company Bleeper is already well known in the city since their bikes first hit the streets back in 2017.
In January it emerged Bleeper had raised almost €600,000
to add more bikes to its fleet and it also plans to add scooters and ebikes.
Bleeper operates a dockless bike-sharing service in Dublin
and has a licence to put 1,000 bikes on the street, with about 800 currently
deployed.
