Having proven a breakthrough race for young riders in recent years, a chance to rekindle the careers of comeback me, the three-day Rás Dhun na nGall looks set to be another fantastic contest this weekend.
Promoted by Four Masters CC, if the weather remains as hot as it has been the riders face a very tough contest comprising a really testing mix of short sharp stages with a summit finish to conclude hostilities.
With some really strong club teams entered along with Cycling Ulster and Cycling Leinster selections in the field it should be action stations all the way.

The race gets underway with the traditional short sharp evening road race on Friday evening, leaving Ardara and heading through Kilraine, Frosses and Ardaghey before returning to Ardara via Kilraine.
The following morning’s stage 2 sees the riders leave the Diamond in Ardara for a 2½ mile hill climb TT, with the first rider off at 9am.

And at 3.30pm that day, a little over three hours of the last riders off in the TT finish their efforts against the clock, the riders leave Ardara again for a 57-mile stage that takes them on three laps of the Ardara-Glenties-Kilclooney circuit to finish back in Ardara.
Each lap will take around 45 minutes so it will be a very spectator-friendly stage.
The final stage, at lunchtime on Sunday, is by far the most difficult as the riders race from Ardara through Ardaghey, Frosses, Glenties, Clooney and Ardara again before finishing on the famous Glengesh Pass.
The final climb is savage meaning only the very strongest will prevail on both the stage and in the general standings when the race is run.
