Trinity Racing, which counts three Irish riders on its roster, has secured an invite back to the U23 Giro d’Italia, known as the ‘Baby Giro’, after winning the race overall last year.
In 2020 Tom Pidcock claimed Baby Giro overall victory by 2½ minutes, and won three stages, riding for Trinity Racing, which was founded and is owned by Irish cycling agent Andrew McQuaid.
The team, which has stepped up to UCI Continental level
this year, counts Ireland’s Ben Healy, Finley Newmark and Matthew Devins among
its roster this year.
Healy is the Irish elite and U23 road race champion and the Irish U23 TT champion. The 20-year-old has assumed leadership of Trinity Racing this year and the Baby Giro should be a great chance for him to shine.

Healy gained invaluable experience when he rode the event last season - helping Pidcock to victory. Healy also won a stage of Ronde de l'Isard (2.2U) last season. In 2019 he became the youngest rider ever to win a Tour de l'Avenir stage.
Newmark (19) was a first-year U23 last season and was a very strong junior rider. The pandemic played havoc with his racing plans in 2020 but this year he should have a good chance of making the Baby Giro team.
Devins was 2nd in the Irish junior TT championships last
year and 4th in the junior road race before ending his year by securing a place
at Trinity Racing.
He is a first-year U23 this year and the Baby Giro may be a big step for someone so young and just out of the junior ranks.
