Britain's Ben Tulett has become the latest Ineos Grenadiers rider to announce he is leaving the team, and is now headed to Jumbo Visma. The Dutch team announced the transfer of the 21-year-old today.
He joins Dani Martinez and Tao Geoghegan Hart in leaving Ineos Grenadiers, with Martinez joining Bora-hansgrohe and Giro winner Geoghegan Hart bound for Lidl-Trek. Dylan van Baarle also made the move from Ineos Grenadiers to Jumbo Visma last year.
"We believe in his talent as a climber", Jumbo Visma sports director Merijn Zeeman said of new signing Tulett. "He has shown that he has special qualities and a lot of talent. We will help Ben get to the top of the WorldTour in the coming years."
Tulett said he was very excited to be joining Jumbo Visma, with his transfer coming just after the team announced the signing of Matteo Jorgenson from Movistar. Jumbo Visma also yesterday confirmed it had suspended Michel Hessmann (22) after saying he had returned an adverse result in a doping test in German.
"It makes me proud to wear the Jumbo-Visma jersey from next season", Tulett said. "In my eyes, this is the top team in our sport. So I am very motivated to be a part of it. I can't wait for the first training camp and race.
"I want to develop as a stage race rider. This team has won the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France this year. I want to learn from the experienced riders and specialists in the team who have contributed to this. It will be a thrilling voyage of discovery. I am grateful to the team for their confidence in me."
Tulett has already won the prologue and overall at Tour of Norway as well as a stage in Settimana Internazionale di Coppi e Bartali. He also rode the Giro last year and was 5th in both TTs, on stage 2 and on the final day of action.
