VC Glendale has secured a fantastic new west Belfast venue for this weekend's cyclocross encounter.
Right in the middle of urban Belfast, the Falls Road is the newest venue for the Ulster Cyclocross Series, with round 8 set to take place there this Sunday.
The racing is being promoted by the ever active VC Glendale which has been to the fore in pushing cycling in the area, especially among their ‘Imps’ children’s category.
The race action will unfold in the Falls Park just off the Falls Road, close to the junction with the Glen Road.
The undulating terrain will mean plenty of running for the riders in the main events, especially if the course is wet.
However, the decision to mark out two courses and hold the youth races on a separate circuit to the main events means the turf should not get too cut up before the big picture starts.

The youths will race a great course, weaving between the tress before finishing on the tarmac straight.
The seniors will be starting at the end of a fast straight tarmac road before hopping onto the off-camber grassy bank past the pits.
VC Glendale has run a hugely successful program for kids and is now bringing cyclocross to the Falls Rd.

They will then criss-cross the park on a course that uses lots of small hills.
The riders will then cross a bridge and race up towards the playing fields. After some tough climbing, there is a fast descent over another short bridge.
From there it’s back in among the trees before the final section.
On that section of the course along a straight row of trees riders pass in both directions before turning at the end and racing onto the tarmac road finish to conclude the series for this year.
The park has a pavilion with a hall, toilets, changing rooms and showers.
VC Glendale said the staging of the race had been made possible by Belfast City Council, adding they were very grateful for the cooperation of the officials there.
Car parking will be limited within the park but the club has secured the use of the car park across the road at the local school.
