On a break from racing at the moment, Australian sprinting sensation Caleb Ewan availed of the opportunity to do some warm-weather training by joining Aqua Blue owner and close friend rick Delaney in Cork today, Saturday.
The Orica-GreenEdge rider hooked up with other members of the Cork-based team for a 70-kilometre training ride this morning, stopping for a couple of obligatory coffees along the way.
Timmy Barry was among those in attendance and he said: “He’d be a close friend of Rick and is on a bit of a break from racing at the moment so he said he’d come to Cork for a few days.

“He was a cool dude, down to earth and rather quiet but a very nice guy.
"He misplaced his leg-warmers on the trip over from Monaco though, so probably got a bit of a shock. But he wasn’t long warming up!”

Barry, along with Sean Lacey, Conor Hennebry, Mark O’Callaghan, Maurice Lawlor, John Horgan and the aforementioned Delaney all headed out for a spin with the 21-year old Vuelta A Espana stage winner and reigning national crit champion.
It's not the first time a top professional rider has rocked up in Cork for a coffee, mind.

Aqua Blue owner Rick Delaney and close friend Caleb Ewan were in Cork this morning for a spot of training. The latter is one of the most talked-about sprinters at the moment and already has a Vuelta A Espana stage win to his palmares.
The Aqua Blue team have already filled their roster for Kerry Group Rás Mumhan but they do have a very useful reserve rider should anything happen in the meantime. He might survive the climbs but would Caleb Ewan survive the cold next weekend?
